Jonathan Puckey

Jonathan Puckey is an independent graphic designer living and working in Amsterdam. He teaches Graphic Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Yale University School of Art in New Haven and the ECAL University in Lausanne. More often than not, his work involves a mix between programmed automation and the intuition of the designer.

He plays with the inherent limitations of print design and the perceived limitless possibilities of programming. He is also one of the authors of the Conditional Design Manifesto. Conditional Design puts the focus on processes instead of products; products that adapt to their environment, emphasize change and show difference. Together with Dutch designer and video director, Roel Wouters, he recently launched 'Now, Take a Bow,' an ever-changing online movie that features the contributions from visitors to nowtakeabow.com.
