Hanoch Piven, a world traveler, was born in Uruguay, educated in Israel and New York City and currently divides his time between Barcelona and Tel Aviv. Hanoch’s canvas for AOL was created on an iPod Touch using Faces iMake, an App developed by the artist in conjunction with Imagine machine as a creative tool for the iPhone. Faces iMake is an attempt to bring the 'magic' present in Hanoch's creative workshops into the digital world.
Hanoch has conducted creativity workshops in many countries, from the US to Guatemala and China. His workshops follow and are inspired by his own collage technique and encourage children and adults to play with common day-to-day objects and create their own works of art with them. In Hanoch's ‘day job’ he has created colorful and witty collages for many publications such as Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Haaretz and many more worldwide. His work has received numerous awards throughout the years, including a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators of New York, and is in the permanent collection of The Library of Congress in Washington DC. Besides his work for magazines, Hanoch has written and illustrated children's books and developed TV programs for young children in Israel and in Spain. His children's book, “What Presidents Are Made Of," was chosen by Time magazine as one of the best 10 children's books of 2004, while his TV show has inspired school teachers not only to use collage as a learning tool, but also to re-use objects.
